Granite, Marble, and Stone Countertops

However marble requires that you care for it properly in order for it to look its best. Marble is not affected by heat, but is susceptible to stains and is porous. It needs to be treated with a special stone sealer that will reduce its porosity, and this will prevent water from penetrating the surface. You must make it a point to wipe up wine, fruit juice and other acidic food spills to prevent staining.
Soapstone is non porous which means that leaks and spills on your countertops will remain on the surface and not penetrate deep down onto the material. For best results, apply a coating of mineral oil to soapstone to help protect it further from acid and stain attacks.
